How To Witness To Muslims 2

Early in your relationship with Muslims stress things that Christians and Muslims can agree about. There is One God. Moses was a prophet. Jesus was a prophet. Prophets represent God and ought to be listened to.

Eventually you will be able to deal with things Christians and Muslims disagree about. The Bible and the Quran contradict each other. The Quran contradicts itself. Allah is not Jehovah. The Jesus of Islam is not the Jesus of the Bible. He is God with us (Immanuel) He is the lamb of God. I understand that Muslims sacrifice a lamb once a year. Jesus is the Lamb of God.

John 3:3 can be stressed. Muslims are only born once. Other religions are only born once. Imitation Christians have only been born once. Genuine Christians are only those who have been born again.

Surah 2:255: Allah is He besides Whom there is no god, the Everliving, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist; slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep, whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth is His; who is he that can intercede with Him but by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they cannot comprehend anything of His knowledge except what He pleases, His knowledge extends over the heavens and the earth, and the preservation of them both tires Him not, and He is the Most High, the Great.

Deuteronomy 4:35: Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.

God is not three Gods . . . He is one. Believing in one God is not enough. One must be born again. God is greater than Satan. Ask what he needs to get to heaven? Islam might be just cultural for him, not a religion that he is committed to.

Genesis 2:16-17: And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Sin causes both spiritual and physical death.

Comparisons between Islam*s beliefs in light type and Christianity*s beliefs in bold type.

Allah is distant and unknowable. He does not reveal himself . . . only his will. He is merciful at his will. He is capricious. He both leads and misleads. He is vengeful. Honor is restored only by getting even. He is almighty.

God is personal. He can be known. He revealed himself in the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. He is loving. He is concerned for individuals. He is just. He is holy. He is almighty. His power is balanced with love.

Christ is a prophet. Muslims deny his incarnation.

Christ is God*s Son.

The Bible is revealed by God. The Bible is changed and corrupted by Jews & Christians.

The Bible is revealed by God. The Bible is God*s authoritative Word.

The Trinity is God, Mary and Jesus.

The Trinity is Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Faith is intellectual agreement that Allah is One and Muhammad is Prophet.

Faith is recognition that man is a sinner unable to save himself but trusts in Christ*s substitutionary payment for his sins.

Sin brings shame and embarrassment. Sin is rebellion against God. Sin is a dishonor to one*s family. People are inherently good. People are absolved by good works.

Sin is rebellion against God (primarily) and man; result is guilt. Sin requires divine forgiveness. All people are born with a sin nature, but a just God requires that the penalty be paid. Jesus paid it!

Salvation is provided by God at His will. Faith and works are prerequisite. Salvation cannot be assured.

Salvation is provided by God to all who trust in Jesus Christ*s atoning death on the cross. Works do not lead to salvation.

Sanctification . . . Emphasis is on ritual and obedience to the Koran. Emphasis is on the external and ceremonial. They must keep the five pillars.

Sanctification . . . Emphasis on the growth of the Christian into Christlikeness, through the work of the Holy Spirit.

Love is erotic and familial.

Love is spiritual. (God*s love . . . agape, sacrificial love) Family, romantic friendship and erotic love are all recognized.

Supernatural . . . Belief in an unseen world. Belief in a realm with angels on left and right. (good/bad) Satan is regarded as the force of hate and power. Belief in fatalism . . . all is preordained by God.

Belief in angels and demons as described in the Bible. Belief that Satan is the arch enemy of God, totally evil with lesser power than God. Belief that man can overcome evil only through the power of God given to him by the Holy Spirit.
